Every personal computer or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, together with any applications that are present on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each app runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS

We provide three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs available and we supply all three of them instead of only 1 as we realize that you may want to install some software that has specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're different software packages you can install on the web hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you would like to use one and for this reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. In the event you decide that you need a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you'd like. We also offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

If you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a broader choice with regard to the system environment on your machine as different applications can have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and risk-free Internet hosting service. Depending on your decision, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software that you want to run. We can also update the OS regularly to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
